Tooth-Colored Fillings

Fast and easy natural fillings.

Almost everyone experiences a cavity sometime in their lives. High sugar diets and low strength enamel on teeth can create further dental issues if left untreated. Tooth-colored fillings are a popular and effective filling choice to treat cavities. At Paloma Dental, we offer tooth-colored fillings which match the natural color of your teeth so you can be confident in your smile.

What is a cavity?

After eating our teeth are covered by a sticky coating of bacteria called plaque. When plaque is not removed by daily brushing and flossing, it can turn the sugar from the food you eat into acid, which can break down the structure of your teeth. If this process continues, a hole can form in the tooth, appropriately called a cavity. Also appropriately named, fillings are used to fill in cavities and protect the tooth from further damage.

What are tooth-colored fillings?

Tooth-colored fillings are dental fillings that match the natural color of your teeth. Tooth-colored fillings are made up of specially formulated resins and silica fillers, which mimic the qualities of natural tooth structure and directly bond to your tooth to protect it. Although most dentists acknowledge that silver fillings are safe and effective, they usually opt to place tooth-colored fillings in their and their families mouths.

Does getting a filling hurt?

As long as you are able to get over the thought of someone removing an infected part of your tooth with a bur (hence the need for a trusting relationship between the dentist and the patient), getting a filling can actually be quite boring. To help you relax, as well as to keep you entertained, Paloma Dental provides Netflix and other streaming options to help take away the sound and make your important treatment a relaxing experience. After all, taking care of yourself is something to admire, and you deserve to relax while you are doing it.

What is the difference between tooth-colored and silver fillings?

Unlike tooth-colored fillings, silver fillings require undercuts in your tooth to help to hold the filling material in place. Removing this healthy tooth structure can lead to a weaker tooth prone to cracking. Tooth-colored fillings do not require loss of the structure of the tooth, so results are much stronger and conservative.
