Bonding and Contouring

What is dental bonding?

During a dental bonding treatment, composite resin material is applied to the teeth to correct cosmetic and functional flaws. Bonding can be used to correct:

  • Chips and cracks in the teeth resulting from damage over time.
  • Gaps or holes between small teeth.
  • Imperfections in the shape and size of teeth.

What are the benefits of dental bonding?

Dental bonding is an excellent alternative to porcelain veneers, and is also less expensive. Many patients love the fact that dental bonding also does not involve permanent changes to the teeth, and can be reversed if needed. It is a very versatile procedure that can be used alone or done along with other dentistry treatments to create a beautiful smile. Results are instant, and can last for years with proper oral hygiene. Many patients experience improved-self-confidence after their cosmetic bonding treatment.

Does dental bonding hurt?

Any discomfort during bonding is extremely rare. There is no downtime required after cosmetic bonding, so you can go about eating and drinking as usual. Since the bonding is a resin material, however, longevity is not as good as porcelain, as the resin can be affected by staining over time.
